I'm a 52 year old mother of 4 children. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
and felt like my life was over. At the same time I stopped having a cycle and knew I was entering
menopause. I was gaining weight at a rapid pace and depression was definitely setting in. I tried
everything to lose it, I even had a Personal Trainer thinking that was the answer. I sought out,
what I thought was the perfect diabetic diet for me and followed it strictly with no avail. I was
on oral medicine for the diabetes and was eventually giving myself shots twice a day on top of
that. I kept gaining weight and was constantly bloated and puffy from retaining water. I was VERY
depressed and was at my end. I finally came to the conclusion, reluctantly, that this was how it
was going to be and that this is what I had to settle for with my weight.
One day I had some friends tell me about this "weight management" program and it sounded really
interesting. I thought, "what do I have to lose?" (30 lbs). I think I'll listen and see what it
offers. What I loved about what I was hearing was that it wasn't a diet and it made sense. I
found that a lot of the food I was eating, that was supposed to be perfect for my diabetic diet,
was all wrong for me. Most of the food I was allergic to and my body was reacting to those
allergies, I was shocked. So I found the right foods and began my journey. It was a life change
and a way to boost my metabolism without killing myself at the gym. Wow, I can lose weight, feel
great, have a lot of energy and not have it consume my life. What more could I ask?
In about 7 weeks, not only did I lose my 30 lbs., I felt great. I sleep better and I feel
better than I have in years. One more thing I have found, that has been different than diets I
did in the past, is the weight has stayed off. I didn't put my body on a rollercoaster ride by
doing a crash diet. I did it the right way and it has paid off.
